The group of people Currently the most meaningful are my friends at iCamp, specifically the ones in the gaming track, as they\u2019ve been with me my entire camp experience. They\u2019ve not only helped me but they also give back and care for their communities\/those around them. These are people who showed me I could form strong bonds with others regardless of time.

The group I\u2019m referring to consists of Timothy Holmes, Rashad Young-Perry, Arafat Hossain, Kareem who would like his last name kept off of this paper, and a few others who aren\u2019t the focus. With topics that mostly focus on the act of empowering the youth of today and deep loyalty to a person’s loved ones. These people inspire me throughout my day to day life to be better and strive for more along with doing the same for others.

Kareem possesses a deep loyalty towards those close to him as well as a desire to protect them at any cost. This is a wonderful quality for anyone to have because in our modern society, it seems people have become more and more self-centered as a way to \u201cimprove themselves\u201d starting an epidemic of narcissism. Meanwhile, Kareem says he\u2019d \u201cgo to the pits of hell\u201d for his family. Before meeting him I\u2019d probably say that I was indifferent to others but this has given me a good example of what to strive for and imitate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hossain and I go to the same school, that being George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science. Being an engineering-based school there\u2019s an emphasis on students getting into STEM careers and programs with tons of robotics teams and dreaded math classes. One day Google arranged an event at our school for freshmen and middle schoolers as a way to get them interested in tech early on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a member of one of my school\u2019s resident robotics teams, Houssain was present at the event and helped kids out with the build they were tasked with (coin flipper). Getting kids to experience STEM early on is important because not only is it good for the advancement of the world but it\u2019s crucial to explore your interests as a child to work towards your dreams as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least I\u2019d like to talk about Holmes who is closest to me in terms of age and goals. Holmes is known to participate in many different things including track and field, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, lifeguarding, and more. Most notably he\u2019s a police cadet but on top of that, he teaches probation cadets advanced jiu-jitsu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I asked Homles why he does what he does he said that he wants to \u201cput something out into the world that will help the people after me,\u201d He possesses a deep care for the future generation as they are the ones who are going to be in control of the future of the world. In the future, Holmes aims to go into the reserves, patrol the highways of Philly, and retire as a member of the SWAT team. Society as a whole has realized that more importance should be placed on the youth as they\u2019ll become our future leaders all too late as many old and outdated systems govern our world. Tim is one of those young change-makers who could act as a local pillar of community growth.

To close off I\u2019d like to get the word of another who isn’t in this group. Dylan Denton said \u201cI love what they do and wish more people were like them.\u201d While I can\u2019t say the same for every single iCamper it\u2019s clear that at least a couple of people are aware of what they\u2019re doing and acknowledge it. In conclusion, I wish more people were like my friends as the world would be better if they were emulated at least in my opinion.
